Vectren Corporation is an energy holding company headquartered in Evansville and has provided gas and/or electricity to more than one million customers in Indiana and Ohio.

To enhance the quality of life of our communities and leave behind a better environment for us all, Vectren plans to build a 50-megawatt solar farm by installing 150,000 panels in Spencer County.

The solar farm will utilize a single-axis tracking system, which enables the solar panels to follow the path of the sun to maximize energy generation. By applying single-axis tracking systems, electricity generation from each solar panel generally increases by 15-25%.

The solar farm is expected to start operation in the fall of 2020 and to generate enough power to meet the needs of more than 11,000 households per year.
