BACKGROUND FOR THE TEACHER
Our country consumes the second largest amounts of energy in the world, only after China. According to the Statistic Review of World Energy prepared by BP, primary energy use in the United States in 2019 was 94.65 exajoules. It accounts for 16% of the total energy consumption in the world (BP, 2020).
Our energy consumption is about 3 times larger than India – the third largest energy consumer.

The purpose of this activity is to enhance students’ skills in interpreting circle graphs (PROBLEM A & B). This activity provides 2 worksheets with information on the six largest energy consuming countries in the world in 2019. The data used in this activity was obtained from BP.
