Vectren owns a total of 1,000 Mega Watt (MW) coal-fired power plants to meet energy demands in Evansville. The company invested more than $410 million to upgrade its emission control equipment to reduce air pollution. As a result, SO2* and NOx * emissions have declined 90% and 80%, respectively, since 1970. The new equipment also removes particulate matter at an average of 99% efficiency.
