Every year, the non-profit organization Keep Evansville Beautiful, with sponsorship from Alcoa Warrick Operations and Heritage Federal, holds a Cans for Cash contest that encourages recycling aluminum cans among Evansville residents. With the Cans for Cash program, anyone who brings in aluminum cans to a designated recycling center gets the opportunity to nominate a nonprofit for a $200, $300, or $500 prize and gets to collect cash per pound of aluminum brought in.

In 2014, the Cans for Cash program succeeded in recycling over 3,846 pounds of aluminum.
